(Cynara cardunculus). Sourced from our PNW garden. A truly powerful plant- beyond its mighty stature. Artichoke Leaf is high in a phytochemical called cynaropicrin, which has been shown to be anti-photoaging (reducing sun damage and pigmentation), making perfect sense as these massive leaves are resilient, staying protected in the sun without being scorched. This powerful component is also known to stimulate the regeneration of cells and inhibit UV irradiation (damage from excess sun exposure) in addition to rapidly building collagen, strengthening areas that have lost elasticity and restoring moisture in areas of imbalance and inflammation. (Ribes nigrum). Black Currant aka Cassis, is a deciduous shrub with small purplish-red edible berries. Its oil is lightweight and suitable for all skin expressions, especially moisturizing and balancing for inflammatory expressions. (Arthrospira platensis). Hawaiian Blue Spirulina is a type of cyanobacteria often referred to as a blue-green algae. It is a great source of proteins, amino acids and is exceptionally supportive for dry skin and inflammatory expressions. We mindfully source It from Hawaii where it’s grown.

(Borago Officinalis) . This common garden herb with tasty little star-shaped blue or white flowers is a surprising uplifter. Just as it can be worked with energetically as a cheer-up plant, it has been shown to bring more life to tired or lackluster skin. Especially helpful for dry skin, it assists in preventing transepidermal water loss. It has a very high fatty acid content (GLA & LA) making it an ideal barrier rebuilder. Traditionally, some applications included the oil for swelling, inflammatory conditions and treatments of melancholy.

(Clitoria ternatea). Butterfly pea is a perennial vine with beautiful purple flowers and often here in the US worked with in various tea preperations. It’s been shown to have improved texture and tone of mature skin while increasing the hydration. Its dried flowers are high in anthocyanins, a naturally occuring water-soluble pigment, that depending on the waters pH, it’ll turn the water a range of blue to purple.

(Mauritia flexuosa). Buriti is a palm plant with large fruits, also known as the Tree of Life. It is high in vitamin A, and has been considered to be the richest source of beta-carotene in the plant world. Topically, it is protective and strengthening for the skin, especially for dehydrated or mature skin.

(Galium Aparine) . This wild weed shows up in the most surprising of places, catching a ride on those brushing by. It embodies the energy of gentle spring cleansing & that spirit reflects when it’s used topically too. For chronic skin disorders, acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, etc, cleavers relationship with lymph movement has been worked with as an ally to improve these conditions, providing cool relief.

(Coriandrum sativum). Coriander is the name of the seeds of the Cilatrno plant. After a cilantro plant flowers, the flowers leave you with tiny round aromatic sphere— the seed that is commonly worked with in kitchens throughout the world as a bright and earthy spice. It is naturally antiseptic and antimicrobial, helping to reduce acne by cleansing and supporting balanced oil production. It contains a high level of antioxidants, helps to detoxify the skin and remediate rashes and inflammatory expressions.

(Taraxacum officinale). Dandelions are the common shaggy-yellow flowered plants growing on wild lawns across America. It is considered a weed and yet is highly nutritive from root to flowers— providing minerals and vitamins externally and internally. We work with the edible leaves of the plant as they are highly anti-inflammatory, reducing swelling, redness and inflamed skin expressions. Its nutritive leaves help mitigate irritation, soothe the skin and unclog pores as it offers a dose of brightening Vitamin C.

(Pseudotsuga menziesii). Douglas Fir resin is extremely anti-septic, making it a wonderful choice for cleansing skin that expresses acne or produces an influx of oil. lt offers wound healing, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties topically.

(Myosotis sylvatica). This flower essence was created by our family from fresh flowers in our garden during the Spring. We felt the energy of this flower was grounded in emotional stability, courage, sharing our voices and recalling our dreams. (Zingiber Officinale). A warming root, commonly found in kitchen spice cabinets across the world. Ginger can be stimulating, anti-inflammatory, carminative. We distill Rhizome as well as work with dried and powdered Ginger.

(Aspalathus linearis). Green Rooibos is a shrub from Southern Africa, often worked with for teas. High zinc and antioxidants found in the leaves help to alleviate redness, wrinkles and fine lines as tightens skin and soothes inflammatory expressions.

Our local honey is sourced locally here in the PNW. Raw honey brings in sublime gel-like texture & is rich with antioxidants and enzymes that assist the skin in plumping and moisturizing. It’s also our top choice for balancing the skin’s microbiome. Skin is more inclined to stay clear & protected when honey is present as it’s reparative, keeps skin clean and soothes skin that leans on either side of the spectrum, whether you experience one week of acne or the next week of dehydration. To me, this makes honey feel like natures great adaptogen.

(Iris germanica). The Irises that we work with are the purple perennials with yellow, shaggy beards in the center of the flower. Iris has long been in my plant guides, often appearing in times of stress, anxiety or overwhelm. It has been worked with as a flower essence for supporting those with headaches or fatigue, connecting one back to balance between earth and spirit.

(Simmondsia chinensis). Jojoba is a plant native to the Sonoran Desert of southern Arizona/California and northwestern Mexico. While it’s thought of as an oil, it’s technically built of wax esters that are the closest thing in the plant world to the sebum our skin produces. It is noncomedogenic & is incredibly compatible with our skin. We are very proud of our Jojoba, sourced directly from an Organic farm in Arizona. It’s quite a special thing to call up a farmer and be able to ask details about the harvest, terrain, quality and health of the trees. (Lavandula Angustifolia & stoechas). We grow two varieties of Lavender in our family garden. We work with Lavender for many reasons to support the health of the skin. While it is most known and worked with for its soothing properties for babies to adults, Lavender is also exceptionally cooling, drawing heat from the skin making it a wonderful ally for rosacea, eczema, sunburns or other hot or inflamed skin conditions.

Magnesium is an essential mineral of the human body, positively affecting our blood vessels, heart, nervous system & beyond. (Urtica Dioica). These nutrient-dense leaves grow wildly all around us in the Pacific Northwest and contain a multitude of vitamins and minerals including iron, vitamin A, chlorophyll, vitamin E and silica. Nettle extract has been shown to aid in a higher rate of helping to heal skin irritations such as dermatitis and burns more than many over the counter topicals.

(Plantago lanceolata). Plantain is generally considered a weed by most, but a marvelous wonder for us. We choose to work with it for its actions in receiving irritation, soothing bites, scrapes & rashes and for its anti-inflammatory effects.
We work with fresh narrow-leafed plantain grown in our family garden for Green Gardens First Aid spray and Stepping Stone Soak and Mist. -
(Prunus domestica L.). We work with organic and unrefined cold-pressed Plum kernel oil from France. It is exceptionally silky and has a scent that is reminiscent of fresh almond-like marzipan. It has significant antioxidant activity and contains high percentages of the skin nourishing oleic and linoleic acids. It can be found in Red Movement Anywhere Oil and Go-Balm.

(Trifolium Pratense). The first plant memory I have - sucking the sweet honeyed nectar from each tiny purple petal as a young girl. Red clover is a humble and common plant found amongst most lawns and parks. It is an unassuming, powerful rebuilder and lymphatic with a focus on movement and clearing lymph pathways. Topically it has been used to nourish conditions such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis, soften, and clear— making it a wonderful ally for skin, scalp & hair.

(Aspalathus linearis). Red Rooibos is particularily high in antioxidants and flavonoids, specifically anthocyanins. It’s anti-inflammatory & supports the skin by soothing irritation, reducing redness and softening wrinkles, especially in mature skin.

Rose (or Red & White) Kaolin is especially supportive for those with sensitive skin. Its benefits encompass clearing out pores, increasing circulation, mild exfoliation and balancing sebum (oil) in the skin without overly stripping it or causes dysbiosis. It is high in the minerals zinc, magnesium and silica.

(Rosa canina).We take pride in harvesting fresh rose hips from our family garden as well as sourcing from our local organic farm partner and on occasion harvesting in the wild. Our fresh hips are either dried and ground for our mask for gentle exfoliation, or distilled fresh for our Hydrosols. Rose hips are high in Vitamin C, a wonderful tool for brightening and evening hyperpigmentation.

(Rosa nutkana, Rosa gymnocarpa, Rosa pisocarpa alongside David Austin, Rugosa, Climbing & Tea roses). This timeless flower is supreme for cooling redness and inflammation as it firms and protects the skin’s barrier. Rose famously pulls moisture to the skin, holding it close as it keeps the skin supple & hydrated, just as a petal holds the morning dew.

(Rosemarinus Officials). Protective & anti-inflammatory, offering gentle relief from eczema, psoriasis, rashes & other minor skin irritations. It functions magnificently as a restorative scalp ally for itching & dandruff & can be worked with topically on sore muscles to boost circulation.

(Hypericum perforatum). A soothing and restorative oil, traditionally used for nerve pain, bruising, sprains and achey muscles. To impart the red colored plant constituents, this oil has to be made using gentle, hand-picked flowers of the plant, an extremely laborious process. It also is only harvested once per year, right at the start of Summer solstice. St. Johns has also shown great improvement when the oil is worked with on the scalp for irritation, dandruff & psoriasis thanks to its anti-fungal & anti-inflammatory properties.

(Hippophae rhamnoides L.). Seabuckthorn is large, thorny-stemmed deciduous shrub that produces beautiful deep-orange colored berries. We work with an extract of the berries, rich with carotenoids for repair and regeneration of the skin. It protects cell membranes from oxidative damage, hydrates and has been shown to support the healing of acne, eczema, and psoriasis expressions.

(Helianthus annuus). Remember this: All sunflower oils are created differently. While some may view sunflower oil as a cooking oil or less expensive offering, REAL, pure and FRESH sunflower oil, the kind that is cold-pressed here in the US and shipped right after it’s been pressed is worlds different than what you typically find in a store. Sunflower oil contains linoleic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid and is non-comedogenic, meaning it does not clog pores. We love working with this oil for a face wash because oil is the best thing on the market to dissolve oil - and - it moisturizes the skin, promotes wound healing and is high in vitamin A, which helps to stimulate cell regeneration.

This is an environmental essence, meaning no plants were picked in the process! This essence has been used primarily for feelings of engagement and connectedness to life, bridging disconnect and reorganizing one’s energy into well balanced points. The active compound in Turmeric is Curcumin, the main constituent responsible for the relief it offers for those experiencing psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis and other inflammatory expressions. Turmeric’s benefits are extensive and range from lightening hyperpigmentation, healing acne, reducing dark circles.

(Vanilla Planifolia). Vanilla is the fruit (in the form of a long, slender pod) of a tropical orchid plant. The pods then go through a curing and drying process that produce the exquisite aroma that we are all familiar with as a spice. Vanilla bean topically has been shown to calm irritation, much as its aroma calms the emotional body too. It’s been shown to repair cell damage and soothe inflamed skin.

(Chrysopogon zizanioides). Vetiver is a grass with deep roots (10+ft!) that have been worked with for their earthy, sweet and woody aromatics most commonly in perfumery. It’s an unforgettable, unique scent all of its own. For the skin topically, we work with vetiver for its wonderful skin softening qualities. It is also known to have scar-healing benefits and for its kinship to firming skin, soothing irritation and calming the emotional body.

(Achillea millefolium). One of our favorites for topical first aid, Yarrow is soothing, it reduces redness and it promotes the proper mending of minor cuts and scrapes. For face care, we typically think of this where any scarring is seen, most commonly during acne expressions.
