Our garden is for you and for us, as much as it is for the pollinators, the bugs and the birds.

A lush backyard garden with raised wooden beds filled with green plants, tall trees, a wooden fence, and string lights hanging above on a sunny day.

It is our labor of love; The cultivation of slow movement with passionate effort and nourishment as nature & family togetherness. It is where Wildcare products begin— as a wish & a seed.

We begin with the most important step— Organic, good quality dirt, and we add in amendment and Organic compost to fortify for longterm nourishment. Our seeds are heirloom whenever possible and always Organic, either collected by us or from companies we trust such as Strictly Medicinals, Plant Good Seed & Seed Savers Exchange.

We opt for natural micronutrients and pest control like copper, diatomaceous earth, boric acid, and Neem in addition to natural fertilizers. We do not use any chemical pesticides that would be harmful to our bodies or our earth. The more worms in the dirt, the happier the plants.

Backyard Habitat Gold Certified.

The moment we purchased our home a handful of years ago, our first task was to pull out all of the grass and transform it into a space that would support native wildlife and ecosystems here in the Pacific Northwest. After a couple years of tending, we applied for our Backyard Habitat Certification and were awarded the gold certification. To achieve this status, our property had to meet the following baseline achievements :

  • Native Plant Coverage: We had to nature-scape 15% to 49% of our total plantable area with native plant species.

  • Vegetation Levels: Native plants had to span at least three to four structural layers (e.g., groundcover, small shrubs, understory, or overstory canopy).

  • Weed Eradication: We had to successfully remove all noxious and aggressive weeds from our property.

  • Wildlife Stewardship: We had to incorporate wildlife-friendly features, such as water sources, protective cover (like rock walls or brush piles), and nesting spots.

  • Sustainable Practices: We had to commit to using zero synthetic pesticides and implement eco-friendly gardening techniques.

The Backyard Habitat project is led by The Bird Alliance of Oregon + Columbia Land Trust in offering this unique program to support the creation and expansion of urban natural habitats here in the PNW. We are happy to contribute ongoing yearly donations of $1 for every bottle sold of our Singing Leaves Cleanser to Columbia Land Trust— celebrating a product that features 8 resilient leaves from our beautiful garden.

Our garden will always be a beloved space for wildlife, family & community to be built with love, from the ground up.
