Distillation Story—

Perhaps the most requested product we have ever received - I knew if we wanted to add a Rose Hydrosol to our collection, it needed to be unique; an idea coming forth through lived experiences that called on the direct teachings of rose. This mist embodies the entire above ground portion of the rose and began right here in our garden- including in-house distillations of juicy, fresh rose hips and lusciously scented just-picked petals + a solar infused rose leaf and thorn essence, all housed in a bottle that's double the size of our current hydrosols.

Our Rose Water is Unique.

I’ve distilled roses from our gardens many times during the last (almost) 8 years for my own pleasures and purposes, but it wasn’t until this year of learning with rose directly and experiencing so many dynamic shifts in my own life, that I came to understand that ALL parts make a whole. The prickles, the softness, the sweetness, the tartness….Life integrates all facets, as all facets have purpose & poetry.

The majority of all the roses distilled are grown right here in the Wildcare garden, years of cultivating in the making to grow roses for their specific scents and blend to reach a balance of earthy, sweet, tart, fragrant & delicate. For an important sense of place, we also marry our roses with a small amount of wild-picked Pacific Northwest roses. All rose hips are a combination of being grown by us, wild-picked, and are coming from our organic farm partners. We distill all hips and petals ourselves, a stones throw from the garden. The freshness of this Rose mist is unparalleled and quite exquisite!

The Hydrosol—

Physically: This timeless skin tonic cools redness and inflammation as it firms and protects the skin’s barrier. Rose famously pulls moisture to the skin, holding it close as it keeps the skin supple & hydrated, just as a petal holds the morning dew.


Emotionally: Whole Body Rose Hydrosol reflects a rose in its entirety. Petals, leaves, thorns & hips remind us that ALL elements of the rose have purpose & poetry; As the bloom bravely billows open, its thorns protect. Rose invites us to integrate all parts of ourselves to unearth beauty as a whole.


Best Use:

Mist your Hydrosol onto clean face or hands until saturated, and pat for ample hydration. For added moisture morning and night, follow by gently massaging a nourishing facial oil into the skin, and finish with another mist of your Hydrosol to lock in moisture. Your daily use restores the skin’s natural PH balance. In addition to your face, feel free to liberally mist your Hydrosol on your entire body. Especially helpful post bath/shower before moisturizing.

Store your Hydrosol in the refrigerator for extra-cooling skin relief.

Keep in a cool, dark place, and always out of direct sunlight, using within 1 year.

  • Ingredients: In-house distilled Hydrosol of organically grown rose petals from our family garden (David Austin, Rugosa, Climbing & Tea roses) and wild harvested roses from the Pacific Northwest (Rosa nutkana, Rosa gymnocarpa, Rosa pisocarpa), In-house distilled Rose hip Hydrosol from organically cultivated and wild roses, organic rosa damascena flower water , Silver Hydrosol (0.5%), & In-house essences of rose leaf and thorn.

  • Hydrosols, also known as Distillates, are the subtle, and often aromatic waters resulting from slowly distilled plant material, and are some of nature's best antioxidants for the skin. Lovingly made using hand collected local spring water, combined with ethically wildcrafted and organically grown plant material, they are distilled in a traditional copper alembic still.

    Alchemists from all over the world have performed transformational distillations in these traditional stills for over 3,000 years, and this artisan process still remains the same! The actual method of performing our distillations has a 5-7 hour duration, a much slower process compared to more commercialized modes of skin care production. What results, is a nutrient-rich, energetic, and authentic Hydrosol, containing the plant's own suspended micro particles of essential oil, plant acids, even a plant's specific essence and memory imprint. Each offers its own unique botanical remedy dependent on the plant distilled, thus leading to the reference that a Hydrosol is a hologram of the plant itself!
