May these aromatics nudge you more deeply to nuzzle into your nest with warmth and comfort. Our Balsam Fir was grown over the course of the last three years in our family garden with an intention to distill! Distilling these young needles encourages deep and meditative breaths while energetically being bright and uplifting— especially smelling the sweet, citrusy and resinous scent of the outdoors during the darker months of winter. Topically, Balsam Fir is indicated as an astringent, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory, tending to skin that desires clearing and cleansing. Balsam is distilled alongside evocative, spicy and warming cinnamon bark. Cinnamon is commonly worked with to bring blood flow and warmth to the body as it’s a mover of blood and circulation. It is gently stimulating to the physical and emotional body along with being slightly demulcent, smoothing & brightening for dull skin and is antiseptic. Its scent is warm and woody with a touch of sweetness and the familiarity that most of us can trace back to a special baked treat or warm beverage scent memory. Mist directly on skin for homeopathic relief from muscle aches & light pains.

Purpose: For those that tend to get the winter blues, muscles aches, emotional aches… it encourages a more joyful flow and enlivened spirit as it brings you back to a safe and comforted center — as my child would say, ‘this one feels like home’.

Best Use: Mist your Hydrosol liberally into the energy space around your body, linens, or onto clean face for skin support. If worked with topically as skincare, pat into skin for ample hydration and for added moisture, follow by gently massaging a nutritive face oil such as SunRoot Serum into the skin. Finish with another mist of your Hydrosol to lock in moisture.

WHAT IS A HYDROSOL?

Hydrosols, also known as Distillates, are the subtle, and often aromatic waters resulting from slowly distilled plant material, and are some of nature's best antioxidants for the skin. Lovingly made using hand collected local spring water, combined with ethically wildcrafted and organically grown plant material, they are distilled in a traditional copper alembic still.

Alchemists from all over the world have performed transformational distillations in these traditional stills for over 3,000 years, and this artisan process still remains the same! The actual method of performing our distillations has a 5-7 hour duration, a much slower process compared to more commercialized modes of skin care production. What results, is a nutrient-rich, energetic, and authentic Hydrosol, containing the plant's own suspended micro particles of essential oil, plant acids, even a plant's specific essence and memory imprint. Each offers its own unique botanical remedy dependent on the plant distilled, thus leading to the reference that a Hydrosol is a hologram of the plant itself!
