We’re elated to bring back a customer favorite, archival Hydrosol from our early distillation collection, circa 2016! Empress Cypress Hydrosol withstands the extremes. It grows between rocks, high on mountain tops, and low along water, all the while surviving the harsh coastal winds and shifting temperatures in elegant stature. The surrounding environmental intensity determines this tree’s shape. Contrapposto, like a graceful sculpture upon a cliff, it stands slanted, with a deep rooted stability.

Its mist cools like a shadow yet feels warm like a wooded sauna, with resinous notes of smoke, evergreen, and cool mint.

This Cypress was gathered by by our family on our recent travels from a long-time tree friend we’ve visited for over 10 years in the mountains (4,000+ ft in elevation) of Southern California. We chose to distill this Cypress with fresh spring water we also collected in California; a literal energetic well/spring from the icy headwaters of the of Mount Shasta vortex.

Physically: Mist as an ally for anxiousness, seasonal and environmental skin imbalances, as support for respiratory ailments such as a cold or flu, as an aftershave to soothe minor cuts or scrapes, and as a clarifying decongesting tonic for skin that experiences acne, fatigue, and redness. Best Use: Mist your Hydrosol onto clean face or hands until saturated, and pat for ample hydration. For added moisture morning and night, follow by gently massaging a nourishing facial oil into the skin, and finish with another mist of your Hydrosol to lock in moisture. Your daily consistent use restores the skin’s natural PH balance.

WHAT IS A HYDROSOL?

Hydrosols, also known as Distillates, are the subtle, and often aromatic waters resulting from slowly distilled plant material, and are some of nature's best antioxidants for the skin. Lovingly made using hand collected local spring water, combined with ethically wildcrafted and organically grown plant material, they are distilled in a traditional copper alembic still.

Alchemists from all over the world have performed transformational distillations in these traditional stills for over 3,000 years, and this artisan process still remains the same! The actual method of performing our distillations has a 5-7 hour duration, a much slower process compared to more commercialized modes of skin care production. What results, is a nutrient-rich, energetic, and authentic Hydrosol, containing the plant's own suspended micro particles of essential oil, plant acids, even a plant's specific essence and memory imprint. Each offers its own unique botanical remedy dependent on the plant distilled, thus leading to the reference that a Hydrosol is a hologram of the plant itself!
